El reggaeton o reguetónes un género musical procedente del reggae jamaicano con influencias del hip hop, que se desarrolló por primera vez en Latinoamérica en los años 1970 y mediados de los años 1980, nace y surge a raíz de la comunidad jamaicana cuyos ancestros llegaron a Panamá, junto a inmigrantes de ascendencia afro-antillana durante el siglo XX.El reggaeton se originó a partir de su predecesor el reggae en español. Después de este acontecimiento el reggaeton se siguió manteniendo tal y como el reggae originario de Jamaica con los mismos instrumentos y las mismas melodías de voz pero con diferentes letras.
