Elis Regina Carvalho Costa foi uma intérprete brasileira. Conhecida por sua presença de palco histriônica, sua voz e sua personalidade, Elis Regina é considerada por muitos críticos, comentadores e outros músicos a melhor cantora brasileira de todos os tempos. Com os sucessos de Falso Brilhante e Transversal do Tempo, ela inovou os espetáculos musicais no país e era capaz de demonstrar emoções tão contrárias, como a melancolia e a felicidade, numa mesma apresentação ou numa mesma música.Como muitos outros artistas do Brasil, Elis surgiu dos festivais de música na década de 1960 e mostrava interesse em desenvolver seu talento através de apresentações dramáticas. Seu estilo era altamente influenciado pelos cantores do rádio, especialmente Ângela Maria, e a fez ser a grande revelação do festival da TV Excelsior em 1965, quando cantou Arrastão de Vinicius de Moraes e Edu Lobo.
