Cause
Proposition 29 - The California Cancer Research Act, qualified for California’s June 5 ballot after voters submitted over 600,000 supporting signatures. If passed by voters, Prop 29 will: * provide over $500 million every year to find new ways to detect, treat, prevent and cure cancer and other tobacco-related illnesses in California. * provide more nearly $150 million every year to tobacco cessation and prevention programs in California * provide more than $23 million every year to support law enforcement efforts to reduce tobacco smuggling, tobacco tax evasion, and illegal sales to minors in California. Prop 29 is led by the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, American Heart Association, Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, Stand Up to Cancer, and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Revenue is protected from being raided by government, politicians and lobbyists.
