Musician/band
Electro Swing: Allez, on ressort “le” Caravan. Toujours Palace, mais flambant neuf et recustomisé. Dans les bacs et, déjà, sur la route. Le groupe surprise de la précédente décennie, labellisé “Electro Swing” et tête de pont d’un courant on ne peut plus informel mais diablement tonique, sort un second album au titre qui sonne dru, “Panic !”. Caravan Palace creuse et enrichit le sillon tracé par l’opus précédent, disque de platine (150 000 exemplaires vendus), une aventure épatante pour un groupe surgi du néant… ou presque. Leur force initiale, c’est une passion commune (jamais démentie depuis) pour la musique électronique. Charles, Arnaud et Hugues, le trio de départ, kiffe par ailleurs le swing, surtout le jazz manouche, et tâte allègrement les instruments de prédilection du genre, guitare, contrebasse et violon. D’où cette cuisine, pas si étrange en fait, entre l’éternel (Django) et l’instant (l’électro). Mieux que du rétro-futurisme, vu que “ça joue”.
