Mahanati Savitri is a legend in Indian cinema. The Sanskrit title “Mahanati” was awarded to Savitri — approximately translated it means “Supreme Actress.” Her histrionic skills, their range and depth, and her ability to deliver dialogues in five different languages with unparalleled perfection have led many to believe that she might in fact be the greatest actress to have ever lived. One of the greatest directors of India, B. N. Reddy, who was also the first director to receive the prestigious “Dada Saheb Phalke Award,” said, “When people hear Mahanati delivering dialogues, they would experience an emotional state of sweetness.” The qualities that brought her this compliment were her diction and smooth flowing dialogue delivery with an appropriately modulated melodious voice.
